Introduction
Many people go through life feeling unfulfilled, chasing temporary success but lacking lasting purpose. As believers in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), we know that true purpose is found only in God. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) assures us:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God has a unique destiny for each of us—one that brings glory to His name and blessings to others. But how do we discover and walk in this divine purpose?
1. Seek God First
Before you can understand your purpose, you must know the Purpose-Giver. Jesus said:
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
- Spend time in prayer and fasting (as practiced in RCCG).
- Study the Word of God—it illuminates your path (Psalm 119:105).
- Ask God: “What would You have me do?”
2. Identify Your Gifts
God has equipped every believer with spiritual gifts (*1 Corinthians 12:4-11*) and natural talents for His work.
- Serve in your local RCCG parish (choir, ushering, evangelism, etc.).
- Ask trusted leaders to help identify your strengths.
- Step out in faith—sometimes purpose is revealed as you obey.
3. Align Your Life with God’s Will
Not every opportunity is a God-ordained assignment. Test your direction with:
- The Word of God (Does it contradict Scripture?).
- Godly counsel (Proverbs 11:14).
- Inner peace (Philippians 4:7).
4. Overcome Fear and Doubt
Many miss their purpose because of:
- Fear of failure (*2 Timothy 1:7* – God gave us a spirit of power!).
- Comparison (John 21:22 – Jesus said, “What is that to you? Follow Me!”).
- Delay (Abraham waited for Isaac; Joseph waited for his destiny).
A Call to Action
This week, take one step toward discovering your purpose:
- Volunteer in a church ministry.
- Write down your passions and gifts—ask God for clarity.
- Speak to a pastor or mentor for guidance.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Prayer Point:
“Father, reveal Your purpose for my life. Help me to walk in obedience and faith, fulfilling the destiny You’ve prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
